Thursday night, solo on the couch
An extra full glass of sauvignon blanc
A handful of red Doritos
A dog that's being entertained by a new toy
And a lone girl on the couch.
Lone, not to be confused with lonely
Because lonely I am not.
Some evenings are best spent
Just savoring the quiet,
Well, my version of quiet.
The latest episode of Smash
Playing on the TV is quiet
With the whir of the dishwasher
The ripped up new toy all over the floor
And the vacuum cleaner whispering my name.
I'm thinking of all that
I could be doing
Should be doing
Instead of what I am...
Just being.
