I feel angry today.
Not just that kind
When you’re mad
And get over it.
But the kind where it starts in your gut
To bubble and stir
Until it boils
And spreads,
Like wildfire
Through your arms and legs and fingers and nose.
That indescribable and uncontrollable anger,
That kind of anger that won’t stop unless,
Unless you hit the pavement
You hit the pavement hard
Letting your feet pound faster,
And faster.
Yes, faster.
The tears well up
To edges of your eyes
And hot liquid spills over the edges.
Gasping
Crying
Screaming for air
Until you have to stop...
Stop running.
Stop moving.
Stop feeling.
Just learn to breathe again.
As the tears flood your sweaty, hot face
It arrives: relief.
Slowly, but surely
That anger and heat
Seems to retreat
To where it started.
Only to return,
When something so extreme
Begins that boil all over again.
