Remember on Sunday morning when M and I got up at the crack of dawn so I could
voluntarily run 13.1 miles? Well, the race photos are up, which means some good entertainment and time for a recap! To start, my pre-race routine may or may not have caused me to get violently ill post-race. Note to self: do not ever take 4 Advil before the race again. Eat your normal snack earlier. Do not drink flavored coconut water, just plain.
The first few miles I went out hard...too hard: 8:40, 8:41, and 8:20. After that, I stopped really focusing on my time because those hills got in my head and never left. It was hotter than I anticipated, and I drank water along the course, which I rarely do.

Oh, and I walked. Four times... (And they caught me on camera walking, and you won't be seeing those photos.) You do get to see this funny combination though...
Let's just say I cried big fat tears because I was laughing so hard at that "Before" photo. I guess I realized there was a camera and fixed my running form. Such a difference between the "miserable, T-rex armed" runner and the "I'm just casually running a half marathon" runner in the second photo.

Overall, it was a fun race. I feel good about it, but not great. I'm not too sure if I'll run it again next year yet. I had a major personal record of 02:07:56, but I'm resting up and hoping to go sub-2 with
Christin next weekend. Maybe I just needed to get those race jitters and the mental thing out of my head before actually racing with a friend.
Mostly, I think the race experience was tainted by how sick I got after the race. Because right now, I'm not thinking about how this was my first pain-free half marathon and that I had a major PR. I'm just reminded of how awful I felt afterwards. Oh well, sometimes a race isn't quite what we expect, but I'm excited to tackle my fourth in a week!

| Yay for being finished! |
P.S. I do realize that this is the exact same outfit that I wore for
this race, but I like what I like!

I'm proud of you accomplishing this race - so what about your time, you ran 13.1 miles!!! Majority of people struggle with a 5K - that's me.
I did have a good giggle with your T-Rex photo - I'm glad you posted that :)
Hope you have a fantastic weekend lovebug!
Nice job, proud of you!!

YOU ARE AWESOME!
The before and after picture is so funny, well more so the way you commented on it rather than the photo but I have definitely felt like the "before" often ;)
Best of luck next weekend Amanda!
Great job! Pretty impressive to be right around 2 hours and you stopped to walk...good job!
You can definitely do sub-2 this next time!!!
Good for you!! Great photos. Your legs look so strong!:) Happy Friday!
OH Amanda, that last photo where you're going through the finish line just MADE MY DAY :) Love it!
You got some awesome shots from your race! Mine are never good....scary even! I've had a race where I was sick the night before and that race was one that I never hope to repeat, so I feel your pain!
Great job!! Don't mind the "before" running picture; I've had many awkward running pics of me snapped before!
Way to go that is such an accomplishment running 13.1! I am superstitious about what I wear when I run...I have to be comfortable but stylish too!
Stopping over from Natalie's!
congrats! congrats! congrats!
so...for my resolution this year, i decided that i would run my first marathon by 2013. so, i gave myself a year to train.
uhm, any advice you could give on training, please send it my way!! i'm sort of behind. yikes.
i have about as much endurance as a 3 year old right now.
You could just say that outfit is your good luck charm ;) Your legs look SO muscular in that first picture. I can't believe you made it all the way through...that's nuts!!
Girl, you ROCKED this! I am super stoked for you! You look amazing!
Yay. Congrats on a great finish!
You look amazing!! Congrats!!
Congrats but what a bummer about getting sick! I did appreciate your t-rex arm - I would analyze myself the same way.
Haha, love the before and after photos. I'm totally guilty of posing for a camera too. Personally, I think you look great in all the photos.
I love the last picture! You look so happy!!
How do you manage to look sooo adorable while running 13 miles? I love the pictures. Your time is almost exactly what my time was during my last half marathon! I was training for one next month but it tursn out I can't get it off of work because someone had put in for vacation months ago. Good luck getting your sub 2 half, I know you can do it!
That's so exciting!! Congrats...I had my arms stretched out When I finished my half marathon!!
