Now don't get me wrong, I love my iPhone snap shots, and my Canon point and shoot produces incredible photos without having to edit them (see here), but I'm ready to take the plunge. I found this article, but ended up completely overwhelmed. I do love Canon cameras, they have yet to steer me wrong, but I'm asking all of you, what kinds of camera do you use? Canon or not, fill me in please!
Thanks for all your help in advance!

In 2010, I bought the Nikon D3000. It's a perfect entry level DSLR camera. Now, Nikon has came out with the D3100, which is the newer model of that camera. In January 2012, I upgraded to the Nikon D7000 (which is more midrange to professional). I love my D7000. It's amazing!
I love Canon! I have a Canon Rebel T3i and I've been really happy with it. Here's a good post that I thought was helpful in breaking down what you may or may not want:

I'm excited you're getting a camera! Have a great FRIDAY Amanda! :)
Nikon, for many reasons. Yes a little more pricey, but Nikon cameras are compatible with all other lenses. I do photography semi pro, so I have a lot of lenses and gear. I'm actually going to be selling my Nikon d90 next month and trading up to the d800 (full frame). Anyway, I'll be listing my old one which is in great condition on amazon, so if you'd like info let me know :)
We had a cannon rebel for a few years and it was great. My husband recently decided we needed a better one and got the new rebel(t3i?) that has the hd video too and it's awesome. I don't play around with settings at all but the point and shoot is amazing. Shop around and you can find a good deal on one. Also for an extra battery, my husband found them online for $10 when they are usually $80 each at best buy. Good luck!!
I love my Canon...it's the basic DSLR the Rebel XS. I have always loved Canons b/c I think they do better with color.
i REALLY want a nice camera! maybe for Christmas..haha

It's really exciting that you're shopping around for a camera!! I love mine and taking pictures is one of my absolute favorite things to do!
I have a few cameras, but my serious one is a Canon EOS Rebel DS6041 (Digital SLR). It's an older model, and was gifted to me, but it's awesome. I am confident that the newer models would be great too!
I love my canon! We looked at Nikon and Canon and I just felt like canon was sturdier but Nikons are great too! I have the 60d which is the camera between the Rebel (entry level) and Mark D (professional grade). The rebels are great and inexpensive but I have heard of a lot of people growing out of that camera and I wanted to make that initial investment and get the step up. Let me know if you have any questions! we did a lot of research!
I'm totally going to be creeping on these comments because I want one too! I'm not the best photog ever but I think it's a blasty blast! You'll have to let me know how the search goes love!
CANON!!! I love my Canon!
I got a Nikon D3100 DSLR last year. I know nothing about using it to its full potential, but I'm trying. We also got a 300 mm zoom lens and when taking pictures outside (think: Alaskan animals) it makes all the difference. Almost any camera can do what you want; you just have to spend the time learning to use it.
as i already have a cannon lense from my old camera (was so sad when it broke) i am currently planning to buy the canon eos rebel t3. i've hear nothing but great things about it.
What a great toy to work towards!! I'd love a nice camera but barely take pictures as it is. I'm working on that though. I can't wait to hear what you buy and what you think.
I do love my iphone camera pictures but I have been wanting to upgrade to a nicer camera! I would love to take a photography class! Maybe I will have to do that in my free time! Happy Friday!
I would love to be good at photography! What an awesome talent to have. I have several friends who are photographers and they use Cannon as well. I think my mom has the Cannon Rebel and loves it, and she doesn't know anything about photography! lol
I've been very happy with my Sony A330 (the first one under Budget DSLR cameras).
I use my iPad's camera!
I have the Canon Rebel from my days in college taking photo classes, but I honestly just use my iphone camera nowadays.
I have yet to buy a really good camera just because I have my iPhone. I have really been looking into getting a new one though!

Just found this blog, I love the design of it. And yeah, photography is fun. :D
Cell phone camera count?
Hey dear! I have a Canon Rebel and I LOVE it!! I bought it about 18 months ago, so I'd recommend the t3 now...
Good luck in your camera search!
I took a photography class in high school too.
I don't have a fancy schmancy camera - I have a canon g series camera that I quite love. I had a nikon and I wasn't a huge fan, I found it wasn't intuitive.
Ok, here's what's in my camera bag

I got a Canon Rebel xsi last summer for my birthday/anniversary and I absolutely love it. It doesn't have video but it was a little less expensive and does just fine! I just got a new lens (canon 70mm-300mm) super zoom lens! I'm in love even though I haven't been able to use it much yet. Hubby and I are going on an Alaskan cruise this summer and I wanted to be sure I had a zoom lens. I'd go with canon if I were you! Hope you have a wonderful Friday!
i bought a nikon d3100 and my sis just got a canon rebel... both are pretty decent entry level dslr cameras!
