We got up early and took a 5AM train into Manhattan before hopping on the Subway to pick up my race number. It was unseasonably warm, so we walked from NYRR to the Central Park start. Unfortunately, I have no pictures for this recap because none of the Brightroom photographers got any of me. Yes, I'm bummed about this. I purposely didn't take off my second layer despite sweating profusely because I wanted some photos... Oh well!
We started on time and off we went. I started running at a pace that felt comfortable to me, and shockingly, my first mile was a little over 8:30. What? How was I running this fast? The most I've ran is 4 miles since Thanksgiving day. I let go of the questioning and kept chugging along. The next mile bumped up to 8:46 then down to 8:30 again. But when mile 4 hit, I slowed way down. There was a hill that felt never ending, and all I kept thinking was "don't walk! don't walk!"
We passed mile five and I picked up the pace again a little bit. I was so excited when I saw mile 6 that I thought maybe I'll sprint, but as I continued on, I couldn't see the finish! We finally turned the corner, and I finished strong. I felt great!
Even though this was my slowest time yet, I am really proud of myself. Normally, my paces jump around a lot! So to run more consistently (minus the mile 4 blip) was a huge accomplishment for me. Overall, I'm glad I did the race, and that checks off race one of nine for the year.

Yay! Congrats on a successful race! You encourage me. I have a race on Feb4th and I'm scared because my sickness set me WAY back. Other runners totally pump me up, so thanks!!!
SO AWESOME!
Congrats, girl!
You're an inspiration to me to bump my goal from a 5k to a 10k - I need to get on that :)
Happy Friday!
xo,
Jessica
Congrats you did a great job! Have a great weekend friend!
Brightroom never gets photos of me! The entire Triple Crown I ran last year (5k, 10k, 10 Miler) I didn't have one pic of me. So lame! Congrats on your 10k...even if it wasnt your best time. Sometimes actually doing it is accomplishment enough!
Good for you! I miss running so much :(
Great work! Now you have to join me for a 1/2 marathon :) And by join me I mean smoke me with your amazing pace.

Congratulations! I'm jealous it was "warmer" for your run! I'm doing a half marathon on Sunday and the forecast says it should be about 40-50 degrees and raining... who would have guessed we'd have that rain in Phoenix?
Have a great weekend- congrats again!
my knees are hurting thinking about running for more than 5 minutes! Some of us just weren't made to run!
Congrats on finishing, what an amazing accomplishment!

Congrats lady..that's so excitng!
Yay for being consistent, that is SO important. That's how I had such a great marathon in Rehoboth (3:30), because I stuck to a solid even pace the ENTIRE time!
And yeah I've put my ipod in my sports bra before and that's actually how I ended up ruining one of them b/c it got too sweaty, oops!
Your recap makes me very jealous! ;) I can't wait to run again, you make it sound so good! You should def be proud of yourself no matter what your time was, I'm sure it was still great!
That was also sweet your dad was there!
Race #9! That's so cool! Congrats girl and keep it up!
Congrats, lady! How did I not know that you are a runner? I look forward to chatting more about it - running is pretty much my life, ha:) Nice work!
