A tradition that my family and my mom's best friend's family has shared for over twenty years is apple picking. My mom and her best friend met in one of those baby groups. Her son, C, and I have known each other since before we were one and continue to be friends now.

After we had too many apples to count, we grabbed some fresh doughnuts and apple cider. Recently, we've started having picnics post-picking. We bring wine, cheese, crackers, veggies and dip to chow down on before making the drive home. It's a great time had by all, and I love that M is now part of the tradition too!

Appple picking is something I so miss about CT. I want to go to Lyman Orchards for an apple cider doughnut right now!!

What a fun tradition! We have been meaning to go to the apple orchard and get some apples. I have so many apple recipes I want to try this fall!

I am jealous of you going apple picking! Where I grew up, there was lots of orchards around and we used to go every fall. But now, where I live there is no orchards :(

We've been once already and it's almost time to go again! I just bought one of those spiny apple corer things and it makes preparing the apples much easier.

This is such a lovely tradition! And it's wonderful that you and C still participate. I think it's so sad when kids grow up and go their own way and family traditions get lost. I'm sure your mom and her friend are really glad you guys still participate :)
I love that you guys still do this! I always went apple picking when I lived in Boston & then we would have a "feast" afterward (obviously with apple pie)! I love the picnic idea with wine and cheese...sign me up! :)
